Context:

The French leader in industrial gases won the contract to supply gas for the entire cryogenic system of Europe’s main space launcher. A transition between the development phase and the launch of mass production needed to be managed, concerning parts with complex industrial designs (sometimes requiring up to 5 subcontractors for a single part), in a very demanding quality-assurance environment.

The challenge was therefore to secure the supply chain, in terms of controlling costs and quality risks in the long term, and in terms of the schedule imposed by the program.

Mes actions

  • Creating tools for monitoring costs and schedules.
  • Monitoring strategic suppliers on a weekly basis and establishing milestones for the validation of each subcontracting stage.
  • Establishing contracts with these suppliers to ensure the sustainability of supplies for the duration of the program (several years).
  • Implementing optimized volumes in terms of cost, to ensure both the continuity of internal production and competitive costs.
  • Implementing processes to optimize the logistics flows between the company and the various stages of subcontracting.
  • Systematically challenging recommended requirements in order to limit the costs related to over-quality.

Mes résultats

  • Significant reduction in logistics and non-quality costs.
  • Establishment of approved part/supplier combinations for the entire duration of the program
  • Clear consolidation of purchasing in order to be able to respond to future calls for tender.

My background:

I graduated from ESC Troyes. Before joining Albert & Co, I had 2 years’ experience in purchasing in the consumer goods sector, then in the aerospace industry.
I joined Albert & Co in 2018 because I wanted to accelerate my career, extend and diversify my experience and develop my skills within a team of purchasing experts. I wanted to be able to transfer the tools and mechanisms I had acquired in highly structured purchasing departments to less mature organizations.
